MProg is a free software utility made by Future Technology Devices International (FTDI) to program the tiny memory chips (EEPROMs) attached to FTDI chips. This tool allows you to customize device settings like Vendor IDs (VID), Product IDs (PID), and unique serial numbers.
Note: FTDI has officially replaced MProg with a newer utility called FT_Prog. However, the configuration steps and overall layout remain very similar for both versions. Phase 1: Setup and Installation Install the Proper Drivers
Download and install the FTDI D2XX drivers on your computer. MProg needs these specific drivers to talk to your hardware. Download and Launch MProg Download the free utility from the FTDI Utilities page.
Extract the ZIP file and run MProg.exe. It is best to right-click the file and select Run as Administrator. Plug in Your Hardware
Use a USB cable to connect your FTDI chip or breakout board to the computer. Phase 2: Create a Configuration Template
When you open MProg, it starts in Idle Mode. To create your custom configuration, you must shift it into Edit Mode: Utilities – FTDI
